Tunas officially classified as endangered species due to overfishing. Its population has dropped dramatically, remaining only 4% left in the open ocean. The high demand for tuna has made the fishing method became more aggressive from pole and line fishing, pulling tuna out of a hole one by one, to gill nets, dragging the large net across the seafloor. These inappropriate fishing methods lead to more problems such as bycatch and coral damages. Besides, the farmed tuna, which is said to be sustainable is simply wild-caught and fattened up. No one has yet found a way of rearing them from eggs. If tuna disappear, more species will be too.

Overfishing has caused profound changes to our oceans. 90% of the fish stocks in the Mediterranean Sea are overfished. Fish cannot boom their number back and our marine food chain is currently at a high risk of a complete collapse.
